How to Order Custom Gears: Key Information for a Fast Quotation
When purchasing custom gears, complete technical information helps a manufacturer understand your requirements and prepare a quotation more efficiently.
1. Prepare the Gear Specifications
Include the gear type, module or diametral pitch (DP), tooth count, outside diameter, bore diameter, pressure angle and face width. Specify the material, tolerances, heat treatment, surface treatment and any inspection requirements shown on your drawing.
2. Provide Drawings or Sample Details
A 2D engineering drawing or 3D CAD file can communicate detailed requirements. Identify the drawing revision and mark critical dimensions. If a drawing is not available, share photographs, key dimensions, application information or physical sample details for discussion.
3. Explain the Order Quantity and Schedule
State the quantities needed for samples and production separately. If known, include expected repeat-order quantities and your required delivery date. Order volume and technical requirements can affect the manufacturing approach, price and lead time.
4. Confirm Requirements Before Production
Review the proposed material, dimensions, tolerances, inspection requirements, price and delivery schedule before placing an order. Resolve open drawing questions during the review stage.
